It China R&D's Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is currently exploring new opportunities to tap into the bourgeoning China technology industry. Specifically, we are designing and developing new software & services for China¡¯s fastest growing markets such as mobile devices, gaming, Web 2.0 services, education and health care.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial Product Manager to help drive the effort of trailblazing new strategic areas and initiatives. This is not your run-of-the-mill product management job ¨C we want someone who can make something out of nothing in an unstructured and fast-changing environment. Those looking to prioritize Feature X vs Feature Y or write fancy Powerpoint decks need not apply.
- Identify potential areas for new products for It in China; Conduct market entry due diligence, such as analysis of the market opportunity and competitive landscape.
- Work with ATC technology groups and It Research Asia researchers to realize the commercial value of new cutting-edge technologies.
- Drive development of business plans, product proposals and prototypes by teaming up with designers, developers, program managers.
- Execute qualitative, quantitative and usability research for specific business ideas.
- Communicate plans and proposals to Redmond product groups and senior management; Engage China-based partners and ecosystem for business development of new product ideas.
- Demonstrate thought leadership on China in specific sectors; At the same time, monitor global technology and industry trends on behalf of ATC.
Qualification:
- At least 3-5 years of experience as product planner, product manager or program manager in the high tech industry, preferable related to software, mobile devices or the Internet.
- Proven track record of defining new products and services, conducting user research and analyzing emergent market opportunities.
- Tolerance for ambiguity and willingness to challenge the status quo; Demonstrated entrepreneurial drive.
- Passion for the magic of software, and an understanding of its economics and potential impact on emerging markets.
- Strong English verbal and written skills; Basic Chinese verbal and written skills.
- Masters degree in business or engineering preferred.
