Company Background: Our client is a leading MNC chipmaker in the computing and communications industries. Description: In this position, you will be responsible for it Software College instructors worldwide. This includes both managing an it internal pool of volunteer instructors for direct delivery of ISC classes, as well as being the primary interface with external third-party training providers for all instructor related activities. ISC will continue to deliver limited direct training for key programs (such as the Higher Education Program and the Partner Program), as well as select external accounts that require face to face training beyond that which is offered through third-party training providers.International travel will be required but limited to about 20%. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Responsible for Instructor Management for ISC Direct Training.
- Developing internal Instructor Readiness Plans in conjunction with new course content development including updates to existing ISC courses. Such Instructor Readiness Plans address key deliverables tracked through ISC's Product Development Team (PDT) Product Life Cycle (PLC) processes, and approval milestones.
- Facilitating instructor development by coordinating and/or directly providing various Train the Trainer (TTT) activities such as dry runs, walkthroughs of lab exercises, audits of beta 'teach-backs' and actual class deliveries, as well as direct support and assistance to instructors in training.
- Sourcing of volunteer instructors for ISC direct training by assessing class demand forecasts, inferring instructor requirements and securing commitments for support from both the target volunteer instructors and their managers, for both anticipated and specific requests for scheduled classes.
- Tracking the activities and progress of volunteer instructors through a database driven instructor tracking system, as well as managing the administration of the (volunteer) Instructor Recognition Program.
ISC is in the process scaling the reach of training through class deliveries through third-parties. The ISC Instructor Development Manager will collaborate with third-party training providers in the development and implementation of instructor development and qualification models for both existing courses and courses co-developed with third-party training providers. This may include but is not limited to the management, coordination and/or direct participation in the following related activities. Your responsibilities in this area will include:
- Establishing pre-requisites for instructor candidates and assessing qualifications of existing third-party instructors.
- Managing co-development of instructor guides and other instructor resources
- Co-developing and co-administering instructor training programs.
- Establishing practical standards and guidelines for instructor qualification and screening.
- Proctoring beta 'teach-backs', and performing audits of third-party class deliveries.
Qualifications: You should possess a Master's degree in related technical field (Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent in experience (an M.B.A. is preferred) with at least three years of hands-on software engineering experience including programming in a high level language like C/C++ Java, .NET*. Additional qualifications include:
- A fundamental understanding of it software tools such as the Compiler*, VTune* and threading tools.
- Strong understanding of recent it platforms and processor micro-architecture.
- Some experience with assembly level programming.
- Strong oral and written English communication skills.
- Some exposure to quantitative management, process development and/or operations management.
- A strong record of successful project management in a cross-organizational and/or international context.
- Strong people skills related to influencing and negotiating, social style versatility, and cultural diversity.
