Main Responsibilities:

• Provide efficiently and timely technical service for customers throughout APAC. 
• Develop new waterborne General Industrial Coatings formulations based on our current products.
• Identify needs for product developments (based on market volumes, based on key customers) and address them accordingly to HQ.
• Keep updated with the latest technical development both internally (from the other regions) and externally from the industry and the academia
• Work on the generation of a global technology lead for CAS APAC for a certain application or technology. 
• Ensure complete transparency of the activities and information flow within CAS R&D APAC.
• Ensure timely flow of relevant information into MU&PM including but not limited to technical market developments and trends, customer specific technical requirements, request for project initiation and product developments and trends. 
• Secure appropriate technical information exchange with R&D in other regions.
• Identify new applications for existing or for new products.
• Train customers, sales force, R&D colleagues and own staff.
• Coordinate and leverage on the global technical resources in waterborne General Industrial Coatings.  Formulate plan and coordinate development activities among different regions to minimize doubled work.
• Lead and supervise a laboratory team.
• Represent's technical community in appropriate external professional organizations such as trade associations. Participate in lobbying activities to contribute to the government policy development.
• Work with PM, MU and Communication, to design and develop product literature, sales aids and display materials to support sales effort.
• Coordinate with all MU country heads in APAC to address specific needs in each country and/or sub-region
• Lead and support cross functional task forces and project teams for the evaluation of new markets, new technologies and new applications
• Strongly support the Waterborne Task Force.
• Develop and implement business development strategies together with MU and PM, through both market pull and technology push that are in line with the business strategies of MU and product lines.

Qualifications & Experience:

• PhD in polymer chemistry, preferably with focus on dispersions
• Above 5 years of experience in coatings industry, with focus on waterborne coatings.
• Preferably Sino-American or Sino-European.
• Preferably experienced in the corporate world.
• Familiar with basic coating technologies and processes.
• Knowledge of coating-related market trends and regulations, preferably waterborne. 
• Ability to break down a problem into its elements and solve them individually
• Ability to learn and adapt to new job.
• Independence -- will face competing needs within the department, must make own decision based on discussion with reporting manager and colleagues.

• English & Mandarin skills.
