Description: 
The Managed Runtime Division of SSG has openings for software developers to work on an open source project for a Managed Runtime Environment (MRTE). In this position, you will be providing technical leadership for the development of an open source project to develop class libraries, test suites and virtual machine technology for an MRTE that is tuned and optimized for best performance on it architectures. 
   
Qualifications: 
You should possess a Bachelor or a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and a minimum of seven to eight years of experience, or a Ph.D. and four to five years of experience. Additional qualifications include:

• Extensive experience in Java* and C/C++ development and object oriented programming techniques. 
• Previous experience in design of large applications and detailed knowledge of Windows or Linux operating systems. 
• Expertise with the entire software development life cycle, including design, development and testing. 
• Strong leadership skills and excellent software development skills in Java* or C/C++ programming on the Windows or Linux operating systems. 
• Ability to provide technical leadership and direction for a team of engineers.
• Good relationship management and communication, negotiation skills, conflict management, and evangelizing skills. 
• Experience developing the overall software architectures and interfaces for a virtual machine, class libraries and test suites. 
• Familiarity with IA-32 and/or IPF platform and microprocessor architectures would be an added advantage. 
• Knowledge of programming language specifications, virtual machine technology, class libraries for network, IO, graphics, language, utilities, security, and others would be an added advantage. 
• Previous experience with open source projects and working on large complex software development projects involving multiple geographic sites would be an added advantage. 
• Detailed knowledge of programming language specifications, virtual machine technology, class libraries for network, IO, graphics, language, utilities, security, and other would be an added advantage. 
• Analytical and problem solving skills, good understanding of computer architecture, as well as the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment would be an added advantage.
