Job Description:

• Provide technical & team leadership for small engineering team.
• During the start-up of the Medical Design Center this person will be instrumental in the hiring of the balance of the multi-functional engineering team (ei.: the pre-selection of resumes, interviewing of candidates, and providing recommendation for hiring decision).  The balance of the LifeScan / it Core team will initially consist of: one digital, one analog, one mechanical and one firmware Engineers and will be know as the LFS / Flextronics Medical Beijing Core Team.  Also, this person will work towards and oversee the transfer the needed know-how and processes from the Flex Monza Medical Design center for medical product development and to set-up the development environment with related infrastructure.
• Once the set-up is complete this candidate will be responsible to lead the cross-functional team, leveraging LFS and / or defining device architectures for new medical instrumentation.   In addition to the technical responsibilities, this person will provide first-line management of the Beijing LFS Core Team.  This team will work closely with the Beijing LFS product development team.
• The position will also involve customer technical interface as needed to support project related discussions.

Principle Responsibilities:

The System Engineer Team Leader will be responsible to:

• Technical and functional leadership of cross-functional team; e.g.: 
  

1. Hiring manager of engineers for team
2. Performance management
3. Maintenance of team
   

•  Lead team in the development of device architecture definition
• Provide majority of the first-line functional responsibilities for team
• Ensure sound analytically based engineering practices by team
• Active review of engineering work produced by team ensuring high quality designs
• Issuing high quality technical reports
• Organize and conduct detailed design review with Internationally composed review team
• Produce progress presentations and deliver in English language to International audience
• Interface with customers as team technical reference on development programs
• Support the development of project level development schedules and expense estimates

Requirements:

• MS Electrical Engineering degree and 6 to 8 years of proven experience in product development experience
• Development of embedded design products for high volume with two of the three following expertiece:
• Digital circuit design
• Analog circuit design
• Firmware design
• Technical lead of product development
• Knowledge of medical or life critical applications is a plus 
• Experience with SW support to HW development for system bring up and debugging
• Knowledge and experience of design for Manufactureability and testability principles
• Teamwork with third parties in an international environment
• Good attitude in facing end customers worldwide 
• Good communication skills both written and oral in both English and Chinese 
• Highly motivated and willing to frequently travel on business trips
• Knowledge of:

1. C or C++ language.
2. 8/16 bit MCU assembly code. 
3. device driver & SW architecture.
4. language management for UI.
5. black out, brown out, fault recovery.
6. energy saving techniques for battery operated devices, is a plus.
7. bug tracking and revision control systems.
