Job Description:

• During the start-up of the Medical Design Center the HW engineer will work to transfer the needed know-how and processes for medical product development and to set-up the development environment with related infrastructure.
  Once the set-up is complete the candidate will be responsible for the HW development of new medical devices working as part of a cross-functional team.
• It is expected that the candidate will take a lead position for HW design on customer programs as well as become the technical leader/manager for the HW team as the design center grows in size
• The position will also involve customer technical interface as needed to support project related discussions.

Principle Responsibilities:

The HW Engineer will be responsible to:

• Define new HW/SW architectures, analyses performances and provide feasibility studies
• Work within the design team to drive for modularity and reuse, adopting time and cost effective solutions
• Execute detailed HW design work including schematics, component selection, tolerance analysis
• Support PCB design and PCB/PCBA prototyping activities
• Provide high quality technical reports supported by simulations and/or lab tests. 
• Investigate new technologies and trends with close relationship with vendors
• Support unit testing and troubleshooting activities.
• Lead HW design reviews and code inspections.
• Interface with customers as HW development  technical reference on development programs.

Requirements:

• Graduate in Electrical Engineering (MS degree) and a minimum of 5 years of HW electrical design.
• Detailed knowledge of:

1. Embedded microcontroller architectures, 8/16 bit. 
2. Very low power electrical design. 
3. HW/FW partitioning analysis techniques.
4. High accuracy and very small signals analogue front ends design.
5. A/D conversion techniques.
6. DC/DC converters for portable devices, battery operated.
7. Graphic displays, LCD (BW, CSTN, TFT), OLED.
8. Design for low cost.
9. Optical sensors. 
   

• Special knowledge in personal healthcare appliances is a plus.
• Able to lead project feasibility tasks, when product specifications are not defined yet and subject to changes.
• Vendor technical management capability and experience.
• Ability to inspect and understand third party HW design to run effective code reviews.
• Experience with HW bring-up and debugging.
• Knowledge and experience of design for testability principles.
• Teamwork with third parties in an international environment.
• Good attitude in facing end customers worldwide. 
• Good communication skills both written and oral in both English and Chinese. 
• Highly motivated and willing to frequently travel on business trips.
