The MSCI Barra Tokyo Finance department provides financial analysis and sales support services to the business in Japan, as well as contributing to reporting performed by the MSCI Barra finance team globally. The Tokyo Finance Department is now seeking a high quality candidate to perform a sales support analyst role. The focus of this position is to provide sales support and financial analysis services to the Japan coverage team and to the global finance organization, including:
- Revenue analysis and preparation of revenue information for client review meetings
- Preparation of revenue information for weekly sales reports
- Sales order entry processing and analysis
- Maintenance of client records in the order management system
- Contract preparation and administration
- Preparation and review of client sales invoices, including follow-up work on client invoice queries, handling relevant tax certificates and liaising with Finance colleagues globally on invoice issues
- Contacting clients regarding unpaid invoices and reporting weekly fee receivables activity to the regional Finance head
- Cash management of the bank accounts operated in Japan, including matching cash receipts to client fee invoices, following up on unidentified cash movements and liaising with colleagues globally to resolve bank reconciliation issues
- Ad hoc reporting and project work. As part of the finance and administration team in Tokyo, this person will also be responsible for providing support when required for office management tasks.
Skills Required:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large amounts of data and various data sources to provide accurate financial analysis and reporting
- Strong management and leadership skills with an ability to foster close team spirit within different functional groups and to act as a role model to ensure the team meets its business objectives
- Advanced PC skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel and standard knowledge of Microsoft Access/Word/PowerPoint
- Highly motivated, able to work independently and with initiative
- Well organized, thorough with an attention to detail and a creative approach to problem solving
- Ability to act as a strategic partner for our key internal clients, developing a deep understanding of our business, our products and internal systems
- Ability to take independent decisions across a variety of issues, demonstrating a logical and well-though through decision-making process and an ability to assimilate information from different areas at short notice
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task from different areas at short notice
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluency in Japanese and English (written, reading and spoken)
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment and to meet tight deadlines
- University graduate (minimum 4 years' course)
- 5 ¨C 6 years' work experience, preferably with prior experience in the finance industry and in a finance role.
