Company Background: Our client is a well-known MNC company in various technology and services industries.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities): Provide metal fabrication/welding, production and engineering quality management systems expertise during all phases of equipment specification (ITO) through fabrication at suppliers or it manufacturing facilities (OTR) for it & Process Technologies based in Shanghai, P.R. China.
Responsibilities include:
- Primary engineering contact responsible for interaction with ITO (inquiry to order) engineering teams and interface with end use customers regarding welding and fabrication specifications for new water treatment projects.
- Consult and provide liaison with local fabrication suppliers to verify design & construction during OTR (order to remittance) phase.
- Review & approve WPS/PQR/WPQ submissions.
- Apply extensive knowledge of AWS, ASME and GB codes.
- Review customer specifications with respect to piping and structural requirements and provide inspection and testing plans for welded components.
- Apply knowledge of stainless/alloy steel piping and stainless steel structures as well as carbon steel structures.
- Liaison between Engineering and Sourcing groups with respect to quality requirements.
- Developing rework/repair schemes in accordance with welding codes as required in support of project engineering and sourcing teams.
- Initiating new processes and methods that will improve safety and reduce product cost and/or improve product quality.
- Training it and supplier production employees in the proper use of new methods, processes, equipment, tooling,and PPE.
- Ensure that Engineering Playbook procedures are implemented and followed
- Interacting with Product Management, and Supply Chain colleagues across the division to support customer quality improvement efforts.
- Interface and assist design engineering with manufacturing capabilities, MCP initiatives, and improvements, statistical service trends and site specific product issues
Qualifications/Requirements:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering with welding major.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing/project environment.
- Direct experience with AWS D1.1, D1.6, ASME Section VIII, IX, B31.3 codes, ISO 9001
- Strong Auto Cad skills.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and ISO 9001 QMS with design engineering
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally if needed.
Desired:
- Ability to work independently as well as in a cross functional team environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills combined with good persuasion skills.
- Hands-on experience with GTAW, SMAW, FCAW or GMAW processes.
- Previous experience with water treatment structures is beneficial.
