Platform Engineering Team Lead(3122-5)

Company Background:
Our client is a leading MNC chipmaker in the computing and communications industries.


Description:

In this position, you will have responsibility for leading and managing a team Integrating and delivering wireless solutions to UMG's customers.  Responsibilities include hiring and leading a team of integration engineers, planning and manage the execution of the platform integration of UMG's HW and SW deliverables on their platform. You will work with cross functional and multisite organization, external partners and customers to deliver best in class platform. This team operates in a fluid environment that will enable you to engage in a diverse set of responsibilities.

Management responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
First Line management of a team of engineers

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team on engineering issues and planning and scheduling daily tasks
  • Resource planning and allocation to meet project schedules
  • Deploy UMG global platform integration processes and tools
  • Forecasting and managing budget and infrastructure needs
  • Identifying and analyzing problems, plans, tasks, and solutions.
  • Providing guidance on employee development, performance, and productivity issues.

Qualifications:

BS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent) required with seven or more years of directly related work experience or MS in Engineering/Computer Science and 5 years related experience.  You should possess a strong engineering background balanced with experience working in handset R&D organization with SW and product development background.  Additional qualifications include:

  • Understanding of handset SW development processes and methodologies throughout the product life cycle (requirements definition through production launch). 
  • Experience in working with and within the Cellular Phone/Smartphone Ecosystem 
  • Experience in SW integration process (build, release and config management)
  • Experience in SW debug & tools (issue debug, tracking, resolution and fix)
  • Experience with drivers at a debug level
  • Experience with Linux kernel or driver porting /customization
  • Strong understanding of It architecture-based platforms or ARM-based platforms including the Operating System and/or Driver Software stack
  • Deeper knowledge of software in one of the following areas: Linux kernel, Modem and connectivity SW solutions, low-level system software, I/O, firmware, software debug
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to apply critical thinking
  • Proven customer management and communication skills
  • Excellent communication, technical writing and presentation skills
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English languages.
  • Ability to work independently, proactive, multitask effectively and exhibit strong influencing and leadership skills with a strong customer orientation
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestic and overseas

The following qualifications would be added advantages:

  • Handset HW experience
  • Cellular modem SW experience
  • Experience working with Tier 1 cellular phone OEMs
  • Experience working with international customers & 3rd party vendors
  • Knowledge of SW stacks, mobile and/or low-power platforms and the related architectural tradeoffs would be an added advantage
