Description:
In this position, you will be responsible for developing and delivering wireless solutions to UMG's customers. Responsibilities include supporting customers with development and integration of UMG's HW and SW deliverables on their platform. You will work with key industry partners to drive the development and delivery of cutting-edge new products into this growing market while influencing the next generation of UMG platforms. This team operates in a fluid environment that will enable you to engage in a diverse set of responsibilities.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Engineering Level (L3) Support / Customer Platform Debug/Issue resolution
- Issue replication and tracking, root cause analysis, workaround development
- Manage / Own Customer Specific requests
- Integration of fixes in reference platform (HW/SW)
- Retest of fixes on reference & customer platform and final release to customer
Platform HW and SW Release - Management of customer SW release
Platform SW Integration Support - Customer support for integration of wireless FW/SW
- Customization request management
- Project derivatives (with limited impact on RnD execution teams)
- System integration and debug dedicated to a customer Project
Engineering Support
- Technical Q&A, Weekly Calls, Schematic/Layout reviews etc
- Detailed Technical Training - Field and Customer training, Material generation, Workshops, Conferences etc
- Support for internal execution teams and reference design support
Architecture & Planning Support for customer feedback used for planning & definition, Use Case, Feature requirements, Power/Performance targets etc
Qualifications: BS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent) required with seven or more years of directly related work experience. You should possess a strong engineering background balanced with experience working with customers and vendors. Additional qualifications include:
- Understanding of handset SW development processes and methodologies throughout the product life cycle (requirements definition through production readiness).
- Experience in working with and within the Cellular Phone/Smartphone Ecosystem
- Experience in SW integration process (build, release and config management)
- Experience in SW debug (issue debug, tracking, resolution and fix)
- Experience with drivers at a debug level
- Experience with Linux kernel or driver porting/ customization
- Strong understanding of It architecture-based platforms or ARM-based platforms including the Operating System and/or Driver Software stack
- Deeper knowledge of software in one of the following areas: Linux kernel, Modem and connectivity SW solutions, low-level system software, I/O, firmware, software debug
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to apply critical thinking
- Proven customer management and communication skills
- Excellent communication, technical writing and presentation skills
- Fluency in Mandarin and English languages.
- Ability to work independently, proactive, multitask effectively and exhibit strong influencing and leadership skills with a strong customer orientation
- Ability and willingness to travel domestic and overseas

- Experience working with Tier 1 cellular phone OEMs
- Experience working with international customers & 3rd party vendors
- Knowledge of IO SW stacks, mobile and/or low-power platforms and the related architectural tradeoffs would be an added advantage
