Company Background: Our client is a leading MNC chipmaker in the computing and communications industries.
Ultra Mobility Group is looking for an experienced firmware applications engineer to join a high-output, versatile team working on cutting-edge, low-power customer projects for It's next wave of growth: the smartphone and tablet market segments.
Responsibilities include enabling OEMs and ODMs with firmware solutions. You will need to manage technical relationships between OEMs, Firmware Vendors, and It to drive customer products to success. Technically, this will require the ability to debug, modify, and customize It Architecture firmware and SCU firmware, and to find creative workarounds to platform issues.

You will work with key industry partners to drive the development and delivery of cutting-edge new products into this growing market while influencing the next generation of It's Ultra Mobility platforms. This team operates in a fluid environment that will enable you to engage in a diverse set of responsibilities. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Directly engaging customers to provide pre and post sales technical support to ensure customer Time to Market (TTM) production ramp
- Support and influence customer FW developers during all phases of product development cycle
- Replicating and debugging customer reported issues by identifying firmware issues and proposing changes to customer configuration or to It drivers
- Providing technical training, consultation, and hands-on assistance to customer firmware developers in areas of architecting, technologies, code development
- Acting as a liaison between customer's requirements and internal firmware teams to shape future product definition
- Owning and driving the definition and development of the firmware documentation for OEM customers to reference during their development cycle
Qualifications: You should possess a Bachelor of Science and/or a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science plus five years of relevant firmware development experience. Additional qualifications include:
- Smartphone firmware development / debug experience
- x86 BIOS development experience
- ARC firmware development experience
- Familiarity with open-source coding standards
- Experience working on a customer-focused platform execution team
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Proven verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated development experience with embedded platforms and development environments would be an advantage
- Ability to utilize common lab debug equipment to root cause FW issues
