Company Background:
Our client is a leading MNC chipmaker in the computing and communications industries.

Ultra Mobility Group is looking for an experienced software engineer to join a high-output, versatile team working on cutting-edge, low-power customer projects for It's next wave of growth: the smartphone and tablet market segments.

Responsibilities include enabling OEMs and ODMs with device drivers and software stack components on Meego and Android operating systems. You will need to manage and foster technical working relationship with a customer and their partners, perform requirements discovery, debug, fix defects, support customer platform power-on and/or bringup, performance and power optimizations, code reviews, architectural reviews, engagement with UMG software engineering, It's Open-Source Technology Center (OTC), and 3rd party vendors..

This will require the ability to tweak the kernel, debug issues, integrate/port applications, and to work with the opensource community.
Further responsibilities include:

• Support and influence customer SW developers during all phases of SW development cycle
• Debugging and fixing customer reported issues by identifying code level issues and proposing changes to customer configuration or to It drivers
• Implementing customer-specific new features or functionality
• Providing technical training, consultation, and hands-on assistance to customer SW developers in areas of architecting, technologies, code development
• Working directly with customer software engineers to address issues in their platform BSP.

Qualifications:
You should possess a Bachelor of Science and/or a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science plus eight years of relevant software development experience. Additional qualifications include:

• Smartphone BSP development / debug experience
• Linux kernel and driver development experience under Linux* and/or Android
• Deep knowledge of software architecture and platform integration under Linux* and/or Android
• Strong debug skills and ability to find and solve problems wherever they may be
• Familiarity with open-source coding standards
• Experience working on a customer-focused platform execution team
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Proven verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated development experience with embedded OS environments would be an advantage
